WE LEARN, WE BUILD, WE PLAY… Bricks 4 Kidz®is a STEAM-based, enriching, hands-on experience. Each week students build a new model using Lego® Bricks and Bricks 4 Kidz proprietary kits and designs. Themes such as Space, Inventions, Life Science, Travel, and much more are age/grade appropriate and provide a high level of interest. Kids can also build their own creations in our creative play box. Creativity is encouraged and celebrated! Our “builders” have a lot of fun. At the end of the semester, your child takes home his/her own creatively designed mini-figure to remember what a great time he/she had!
Thursdays It’s LEGO® time with Bricks4Kidz®. Each class is STEM based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and is structured to be a fun, enriching experience for your child. Your child will build a new project each week. Our unique models are designed by Bricks4Kidz professional teachers and architects to teach concepts across a variety of topics. We start each class with a discussion about key concepts related to the model, then get right into the building. Working with a partner, your child will experience the hands-on fun of seeing his/her model come together piece by piece from concept to completion. By using one of our proprietary project kits, kids learn that with a little imagination, they can create something amazing. Each week your child will take home a page showing what they built that day in this wonderful class. At the end of the semester, your child takes home his/her own creatively designed mini-fig to remember what a great time they had. This fee is based on the 14 week session. Full payment is due prior to first class.

Class: Tuesday
Grades: 3-5

Our club was started around the premise that children can learn to program computers and their understanding of computer programs and games can support the math and remove "the magic" behind computers and games. This club will help children begin to think differently about their screen time.

They begin to consider what happens in the code, thinking of the math, algorithms, and logic. We begin with an introduction to the basic components of a computer. Using a tiny device called the Raspberry Pi, we can bring a computer to each child. When they can touch it and point to individual components, they gain a new respect for the electronics that will lead to a deeper understanding of what each one does.

From the hardware, we move on to a programming language (programming environment) called Scratch. Scratch was written at MIT and is intended to help children ages 7 - 12 understand programming as well as create interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art. The interface is a basic "click and drag" setup that seems intuitive to most children. As they add new pieces to their program, story, animation, etc., the code is displayed below. As students’ progress through the language, their interests may diverge. Using the same programming environment, we can introduce "physical programming" that will interface with basic electronics.

From here, students can write code to make LEDs flash, motors spin, and (reluctantly) make sounds. In other classrooms, students have taken the flashing LEDs and turned it into a game of rolling dice (exploring probability).

BOYS & GIRLS! SING! ACT & DANCE! This class will conclude with an end of season production in December!

Everyone has listened to the immortal yarn of Little Red Riding Hood and a hungry wolf.  But it’s rare we get a chance to hear the infamous Wolf’s point of view of this popular story.  In this hilarious musical, however, our compassionate and sympathetic beast is understandably upset.  He has been maligned for generations because of the well-known children’s parable.  Determined to defend his own good intentions, he reveals Red Riding Hood’s real nature...  rarely shown to the outside world.  With an abundance of toe-tapping tunes, this side-splitting cuddly tale ideal for elementary actors will show that there are two sides to every story.

Key Concepts of program:

  • Cross curriculum references and life/social skills and awareness
  • Confidence, coordination and memorization
  • Teamwork and discipline
  • Historical and artistic differences
  • Stage directions and basic theater history/etiquette
